Cruisin’ through life in movies and music

“You have to learn the rules of the game, and then you have to play better than anyone else.”~Albert Einstein, German physicist

I’m fortunate that my husband and I share the same interests. I know, weird, right? We like similar genres of movies, notably action-adventure and modern sci-fi, except he likes sports flicks while I’m into the Kill Bill series. Our taste in music doesn’t quite jive–most notably he listens to more classic rock while I prefer old-school rap–but we both appreciate heavy metal to varying degree. We do agree, that the 80s produced some seriously fun and bizarre and oh-so-dated music of all the decades. At least, the hair and clothing styles are…distinctive of that era.

Combining movies and music, we have a thing for musicals, at least more popular, mainstream ones: White Christmas; The Sound of Music; The Little Mermaid; The Lion King; and It’s a Wonderful Life, to name a few.

Grease is one of the last seriously kickin’ musical movies where the talent is breathless. Have you watched it lately? The talent, the cast, the dancing…”Wow” doesn’t begin to cover it. We can even perform the song “You’re the one that I want” with surprising accuracy. Don’t forget the double entendre lyrics…when you do watching it, make sure it’s the unedited version.

In fact, every movie should be watched unedited. You don’t do the Die Hard series justice without the language, which is part of the characters’ personality. Besides, the dubbing of polite language is so ridiculously fake. It’s the only thing that makes the TNT or AMC versions sufferable.

However you do it, go out and experience pop culture.
